Since its foundation on April 1, 1925 by the two merchants Oscar Matzen and Otto Timm, the Norderstedt-based company has had an eventful history.
For a time, Matzen & Timm was the leading European trader of rock salt with sales markets in western Africa. Only later did the company switch to the production of hoses made of high-quality plastic materials - initially under license for a US brand, then with its own development and production.
Today, Matzen & Timm is a long-standing and certified partner of the aviation industry.
In the immediate vicinity of Hamburg Airport, around 100 employees manufacture components for all Airbus series as well as for the automotive and rail vehicle industries. The production of flexible hoses, hose connections and molded parts for the highest demands on safety and weight is still largely manual work, depending on the requirements and application.
For demanding customers, many of them from high-tech industries, the company also produces custom-made products, small series or even unique items.
From Norderstedt, Matzen & Timm supplies customers around the globe - and sometimes even beyond, for example when a space transporter flies to the International Space Station ISS with a Matzen & Timm molded part installed.
“100 years stands for tradition and change at the same time. Our success is based on a combination of experience and innovative strength,” says Managing Director Peter Bremer. “Together with our employees and customers, we want to actively shape the next decades of the aviation industry.”
The anniversary will be celebrated in summer with a big party for employees and their families, former employees and business partners.
