Hanover, April 2004
Masterflex AG, Gelsenkirchen, and Veloform GmbH, Berlin, signed a cooperation agreement during the Hanover Fair 2004.
The aim of the cooperation is to develop innovative Cargobikes (bicycles for transporting smaller loads) equipped with fuel cells from Masterflex. The company Veloform is a successful developer and user of worldwide operating velotaxis. Veloform sees great market potential for the new development.
The cooperation was initiated to a large extent by the announcement of the decision of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia to build up an extensive hydrogen infrastructure in the field of small high-pressure hydrogen storage systems by the Minister of Energy, Dr. Axel Horstmann, at the Hanover Fair 2004.
Infrastructure and storage technology are expected to be available as early as mid-2005, thus creating the basis for the widespread use of Cargobikes.
Both companies are very confident that the cooperation will contribute to the successful market entry of fuel cell systems. The first market-ready Cargobikes are expected to be available and used in professional applications as early as 2005.
