Gelsenkirchen April 20, 2005. On his tour of this year's Hanover Fair, German Environment Minister Jürgen Trittin saw for himself the viability of the electric bicycle with fuel cells.
The prototype celebrated its world premiere at last year's Hannover Messe. This year, Masterflex AG showed a significantly enhanced fuel cell bicycle, which is being developed in cooperation with Swizzbee AG. The bicycle has an electric auxiliary drive and energy is supplied by an integrated Masterflex fuel cell, which increases the range of the bicycle by a factor of five compared to conventional battery solutions. This opens up new, cost-effective application prospects for electric bicycles.
The use of new components and the high reliability of the Masterflex fuel cell make the electric bicycle suitable for everyday use. Together with the high range, the bicycle also offers economic advantages. The first fleet of bicycles is to be delivered as early as 2005.
