Gelsenkirchen, July 03, 2006. Just in time for the 2006 World Cup in Germany, T-Com, Deutsche Telekom's Broadband/Fixed Network business area, is focusing on innovative, climate-neutral mobility powered by fuel cells. To this end, T-Com is using Cargobikes from Gelsenkirchen-based Masterflex AG as service vehicles in and around the World Cup stadiums in Berlin and Dortmund.
These Cargobikes are innovative transport vehicles with integrated fuel cells. The Cargobike has a modular design so that the vehicle can be equipped with different superstructures for different areas of application.
A 250 watt fuel cell system can provide additional power in addition to the drive energy, for example for lighting the vehicle or cooling transported goods. The hydrogen supply is provided by the gas manufacturer Air Liquide.
With the Cargobike, Masterflex AG has successfully launched another fuel cell project within just a few months. On May 28, 2006, the world's first fleet of fuel cell-powered bicycles was delivered to the city of Herten in North Rhine-Westphalia. Masterflex AG had received the order in November 2005.
