Gelsenkirchen, June 26, 2008 - The EU's new chemicals regulation for the registration, evaluation and authorization of chemicals (REACH) has been in force since June 1, 2007. REACH creates uniform legal requirements throughout Europe and replaces the previous evaluation of existing substances and registration of new substances.
Masterflex AG, under the leadership of its laboratory manager, Dipl.-Chem. Nicole Höfer, has been involved with this issue since the very beginning of the legislative process. In order to meet the responsibility for the safe handling of chemicals, there is currently a well-founded exchange of information with the suppliers.
Within the framework of a long-standing and trusting customer-supplier relationship, measures have been initiated, such as in particular
- the transmission of information on the status of registration on the part of the supplier to Masterflex AG;
- the listing and transmission of all relevant applications of Masterflex AG to suppliers so that they can evaluate the use and include it in the safety data sheet.
The discussions based on this will be completed by the middle of the year. Any pre-registrations that may be required can thus be made in good time. Masterflex products will not be classified according to REACH for the time being, as they are only finished products - not chemicals or preparations.
