Masterflex AG, Gelsenkirchen - August 22, 2012
On Friday, August 17, the western Ruhr region hosted the "Know how?! TechnikNacht Ruhr" took place. 35 companies granted insights behind otherwise closed doors and presented fascinating sides of technical progress.
Masterflex AG from Gelsenkirchen, a specialist in the development and manufacture of sophisticated hose and connection systems made of high-tech plastics, also opened its doors to interested visitors.
This year, the Technology Night was organized for the first time by the VDE (German Electrical Engineering Association). Technical products and processes are the daily companions of our lives and it is impossible to imagine everyday life without them. But what happens behind the scenes of factory halls? How is a hose produced from plastic granulate? Why is a plastic hose more resilient than a steel pipe and therefore also well suited for transporting gravel? What makes high-tech hoses so dimensionally stable that they do not collapse despite high vacuum? How does cocoa butter stay at exactly the right temperature and consistency so that the inside of the praline machine doesn't stick together and the chocolate doesn't become inedible in the end?
These and many other questions were answered between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. on Friday on the Masterflex premises. Even if hardly noticed, in many different areas the use of hoses ensures smooth processes and safety in a wide variety of processes. Where the hoses are used everywhere, how they are manufactured, what kind of extreme loads they have to withstand and what kind of different production processes there are, all this our guests could learn in the vivid guided tours. For Masterflex, the participation in the Technology Night was a complete success and a great opportunity to present itself to the numerous visitors.
