It was once again Social Day at the Industry Initiative of the North Westphalia Chamber of Industry and Commerce - and Masterflex apprentices were also given a day off for this.
Mert Alican (apprentice industrial clerk) and Jan Louven (also apprentice industrial clerk) lent a hand at the Gelsenkirchen Tafel (see photo with Tafel managing director Hartwig Szymiczek in the middle).
The Tafel mainly distributes donations from supermarkets to those in need. Mert and Jan received these donations, unpacked them, distributed them in boxes and hauled them to the respective storage location.
Robin Bonk (trainee warehouse logistics specialist) and Dennis Burmann (trainee process mechanic for plastics and rubber technology) were assigned to the Arche Noah children's hospice and took a long walk with the children and caregivers.
The campaign has more than just a social aspect. It is also about raising awareness of industry as a formative force in the city - and getting into conversation with people in other life situations.
