08.10.03 Masterflex AG has won the Oscar for SMEs in the first nationwide competition of the same name.
The OSKAR initiative started in 1994 from Leipzig. The prize has been awarded annually since 1995 to innovative companies in the SME sector, initially in the new German states and this year for the first time for the whole of Germany.
As a private initiative, the "OSKAR für den Mittelstand" has gradually developed into one of the most important German business and media awards, completely without state funding and organized exclusively on a voluntary basis. The patron of this year's event is former German President Roman Herzog.
Altogether this year over 700 institutions and municipalities suggested country widely over 2000 medium-size enterprises for the honor with this price. This means that the 9th OSKAR year achieved the largest response to date in the history of the OSKAR initiative.
These companies, with a total of about 250,000 employees and a turnover of about 10 billion EURO, generate taxes and duties amounting to about one billion EURO annually. They represent the strong, forward-looking companies that have created nearly three million new jobs in the last 10 years, while the state and large corporations have cut jobs by roughly the same amount.
These companies represent the entire breadth of medium-sized economic structures: all forms of ownership from sole traders to limited liability companies to cooperatives and stock corporations, all sectors from crafts and industry to trade and services, all industries from food production to high-tech companies in the communications and biotech sectors to classic dealers, workshops and personal services.
Masterflex AG is proud to have won the Oscar, which is synonymous with the company's innovative strength, flexibility and successful history. At the same time, it is also an incentive to continue the now more than fifteen-year success story for the future with innovative ideas and products.
