Novoplast Schlauchtechnik and Fleima-Plastic, the two medical technology brands of the Masterflex Group, have been successfully combining extrusion and injection molding production techniques in demanding projects for many years. In doing so, they draw on a wealth of experience in the processing of plastics, extensive material expertise and established manufacturing and joining processes under clean room conditions.
The result is lightweight, high-performance and customer-specific solutions.
In Halberstadt, polymer materials are processed into medical tubing by extrusion in ISO class 6 to 8 cleanrooms, while in Wald-Michelbach, matching connecting parts such as clamps, adapters, connectors or protective caps are manufactured by injection molding.
The actual manufacturing process, the tube extrusion, can be individually adapted and additional benefits or functions can be integrated into the tube through the use of materials or a combination of materials. For example, conductive elements such as wires or glass fibers for transmitting information or light signals can be incorporated into the hose. Furthermore, UV-absorbing properties, antimicrobial behavior or even a color change for laser marking can be made possible by functional additives in the plastic used.
