The two medical device specialists in the Masterflex Group, Novoplast Schlauchtechnik and Fleima-Plastic, will be presenting their one-stop shop technical medical solutions at Medtec Europe in Stuttgart from 12 to 14 April. Fair visitors will be able to admire their precisely engineered tubing products and delicate plastic injector components in reliable 'Made in Germany' quality on stand A17 in hall 5.
On display on the 42 m2 shared stand will be single lumen, multi-lumen and multi-layer tubing produced by Novoplast Schlauchtechnik together with the injection-moulded adapters, connectors, caps, drip chambers, Y-connectors, slip connectors and clamps made by Fleima-Plastic.
At their plants in Halberstadt and Wald-Michelbach, these two members of the Masterflex Group manufacture not only tubing products to customer specifications but also mass-produced items for use in technical medical applications. The production units are located in class 6 to 8 clean rooms that conform to the requirements of ISO 14644-1.
"Ever smaller, more reliable, more individualised - it is now seen as a matter of course that the latest medical device sector products must follow these trends," explains Manfred Seeber, Sales Director Medical Products of the Masterflex Group. "This is primarily due to the increasing use of minimally invasive medical procedures." Also increasingly in demand are articles that have specific biological characteristics, otherwise known as hybrid products - these usually incorporate an element that is coated with an active therapeutic substance. "They can also take the form of tubing systems or implants that, thanks to sensor and actuator technology, can now be made even more 'intelligent'."
Because of the growth of the concept of individualisation within medicine, medical devices need to be adapted more closely to the actual needs of patients."We can help here because of our many years of experience and know-how." The combination of material- and processing-related skills in the fields of extrusion and injection moulding mean that the products made by Novoplast Schlauchtechnik and Fleima-Plastic perfectly complement each other.
The results of their close collaboration are high quality standard medical articles, from tubing to connectors, customer-specific solutions through to complete systems that can be created by combining the products of the two. This might involve, for example, an in-dwelling tube for an individual situation for which the matching connector and cap can also be supplied. Or even a complex multi-lumen tube for which a connector can be created by means of overmoulding.
The Medtec Europe fair in Stuttgart has become one of the main annual events for manufacturers of medical devices around the world and this important medical showcase is now in its 15th year.
