If a medium-carrying connection is to be movable, easily expandable or replaceable, hoses are the expedient connection compared to rigid pipes. If heat losses in the pumped medium are to be prevented, the combination of hose and electrical heating is the ideal solution.
This combination is offered by the new templine heated hose system from Masterflex AG. The innovative design of the electrical heating system results in significant savings in energy consumption.
This is because, in contrast to conventional and marketable heated hoses, which incorporate standardized heating tapes and heating cables from industrial pipe trace heating, the templine product line is characterized by an innovative heating concept for frost protection, temperature maintenance and temperature increase.
The key difference:
In conventional designs, contact between the surface of the heating cable and the media hose is reduced to a small area of the respective circumference. Most of the heat enters the medium indirectly by reflection via the thermal insulation. The situation is similar for heating cables made of plastic. The circular circumference of the cable has only punctual contact.
The templine heated hose system is characterized by several heating conductors that are fixed in a spiral around the medium hose in a stable fabric braid. As a result, a uniform "heat envelope" builds up around the medium hose during operation.
The temperature differences along the entire hose are extremely small. "Hot spots" - temperature peaks due to uneven heat distribution - are a danger especially in explosive areas, but do not occur with templine heated hose systems due to the system.
In addition, the area-wide heating conductor covering of the medium hose demonstrably leads to energy savings of up to 30 % compared to conventional heating hose designs.
The temperature-resistant fabric on the medium hose, into which the heating cables are incorporated like spiral springs, makes templine heating hoses exceptionally flexible. The concentric design allows more than 1 million bends in all directions on hoses with nominal diameters of 4 mm to 25 mm. This has been confirmed by long-term studies conducted by independent institutes. Added to this is the high flexibility and long-term resistance of the materials used.
The templine heated hoses can be combined directly with a temperature controller (templine-R) or a temperature controller with additional safety temperature limiter (templine-B).
Individually or in combination, the devices can be accommodated in the connection housing of the templine heated hose system. Masterflex AG has developed these devices in-house to optimally match their function to the properties of the electric heating system. With the templine-B system, temperature-sensitive media can be additionally protected against overheating.
The hose end terminations and connection housings are splash-proof and dust-proof (IP 65).
