Putting youngsters in touch with the world of work - this is the idea behind this year's Job Taster Days in Gelsenkirchen. On 20 March and 24 April, school pupils in year 8 will have the opportunity to see what it is like to work for a day for the Masterflex Group. Six pupils will be gaining insight in how we operate and what sort of challenges they'll be facing on a routine basis if they subsequently decide to take up a trainee post as an industrial business management assistant (Industriekaufmann/frau), machine and plant operator (Maschinen- und Anlagenführer/in) or qualified warehouse logistics assistant (Fachkraft für Lagerlogistik). After a round of introductions and short presentation on our business, the pupils will be accompanying our trainees to their workplaces where they will be given simple tasks to do and thus find out whether the job would suit them. "It's our intention to make sure that young people are made aware of us as a potential employer and to give these school pupils an idea of just how interesting working in an industrial enterprise can be, specifically when it comes to producing our highly specialised hoses," says Christina Neubauer, Head of HR at the Masterflex Group. "And, of course, we also hope to persuade them to work for us in future."
