Masterflex AG and Hawk Bikes to develop fuel cell-powered transport vehicle
Gelsenkirchen, January 28, 2005. Gelsenkirchen-based Masterflex AG (ISIN DE 0005492938) and Hawk Bikes E&M GmbH, Berlin, will jointly develop an innovative transport vehicle.
The aim of the collaboration is to develop Cargobikes (bicycles for transporting smaller loads) equipped with fuel cells from Masterflex and an innovative drive concept.
The company Hawk Bikes is a successful developer of specialized and individual bicycle solutions. Masterflex and Hawk Bikes see great market potential for the new development.
Hydrogen infrastructure and storage technology should be available as early as mid-2005, thus creating the basis for widespread use of the Cargobikes. The joint project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Both companies are very confident that the cooperation will contribute to the successful market entry of fuel cell systems. The first market-ready Cargobikes are to be presented to the public as early as 2005.
