On September 26, 2011, the CEO of Masterflex AG, Dr. Andreas Bastin, received the "Turnarounder of the Year 2011" award in the category 'Companies with up to 500 employees' in Berlin.
The auditing firm BDO and the magazine impulse thus honored the successful turnaround of the company.
Background: Since its IPO in 2000, Masterflex had acquired a number of investments outside its core business with high-tech hoses. Only a few of these investments were sustainably profitable and generated synergies for the core business. Although sales increased significantly as a result of the many holdings, debt and losses from the new subsidiaries also increased at the same time. When the financial crisis broke out in 2008, the need for major write-downs on these shareholdings and a decline in sales drove the company to the brink of insolvency. How the crisis was successfully mastered is described in the article "Der auf den Schlauch setzt," published in the magazine impulse 10/2011.
