By combining two special products for extreme wear protection from the Masterflex AG product range - the PU-lined hose type Master-PUR Inline 60/4 as well as the Master-PROTECT elbow - a cost-saving solution was implemented in operation for a problematic application in the automotive industry. In the pneumatic conveying of abrasive plastic granulates, the powdery materials were sent through 2 mm thick VA pipes by means of gas flow. The user complained of a severe wear problem. During transport, the bulk material hits the pipe wall countless times. Defects in the form of slight leakage up to complete destruction were the result and the pipes had to be replaced after only 2 months. More important than the costs of the actual spare parts were the necessary downtimes of the plant and the associated loss of production. After replacing the VA pipes with Master-PUR Inline 60/4 hoses and additionally installing the 90° pipe bends, our customer achieved up to 6 times longer service lives and thus enormous cost savings in terms of installation times, plant downtimes and production delays.
Master-PUR inline hoses for the most demanding applications
Even today, heavy, inflexible rubber hoses or VA pipes are often used to convey highly abrasive media. The PU-lined Master-PUR Inline hoses set new standards in many application areas. As unique performers in conveying abrasive bulk materials, they are superior PU hoses for the most demanding suction and pressure applications.
With Master-PUR inline hoses, almost any wall thickness can be realized in a Shore hardness range of 50 - 90°A. The lining materials can be equipped, for example, with a higher cut resistance, which leads to an optimized operating time for strongly cutting materials, such as metal chips, glass or electrical scrap. The lining can be optimally adapted to almost any material to be conveyed and any application.
Patented wear protection increases cost-effectiveness
Pipe bends of the Master-PROTECT series also have an inner PU lining. In addition, they have a special, patented inner geometry. The lining lies like a protective layer on the actual wall and thus prevents premature wear. The outstanding feature here is the thicker lining exactly at the point of the actual sheet where the mechanical stresses are greatest. The inclined PU surface deflects the bulk material relatively gently around the curve, and impacting particles bounce off it and thus do not damage the outer wall.
